Wendy Buiter pieces are created to be enjoyed, worn, carried and lived with.
Many items in the collection are functional objects as well as artistic pieces. Like all products that are handled and used in daily life, their appearance and condition may naturally change over time.
Proper care will help preserve your piece for as long as possible.
Our Quality Policy
Every order should arrive in perfect condition.
If your item arrives damaged, defective, incorrectly produced or with a visible manufacturing or printing issue, please contact us within 30 days of delivery.
Please include your order number, a short description of the issue and clear photographs showing the product and the affected area.
We will review each case individually and, where appropriate, arrange a replacement, repair, refund or another suitable solution.
The 30-day period is our quality-reporting period for production and fulfillment issues and does not limit any statutory consumer rights that may apply.
Everyday Use & Wear and Tear
Products that are worn, carried, handled or used regularly will naturally show signs of use over time.
Normal wear and tear is not considered a manufacturing defect.
This may include scratches, scuffs, small marks, fading, surface wear, changes in finish, stretching, creasing, abrasion or other gradual changes resulting from everyday handling and use.
Damage caused by accidental impact, dropping, excessive pressure, bending, pulling, snagging, moisture, chemicals, unsuitable cleaning methods, prolonged heat or sunlight, extreme temperature changes or use contrary to the intended purpose of the product is also not considered a manufacturing defect.
The age of the item, nature of the product, pattern of use and type of damage will always be taken into account when assessing a claim.
Phone Cases & Device Accessories
Phone cases are protective accessories that are handled continuously and exposed to friction, pressure and changing environmental conditions.
To prolong the life of your case, avoid unnecessary bending and remove or reinstall it carefully. Repeatedly flexing a rigid case or frequently removing it may place additional stress on the outer shell and edges.
Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, excessive heat — such as leaving your phone in a hot car — and extreme changes in temperature.
Scratches, scuffs, worn edges, gradual fading and other cosmetic changes caused by everyday use are considered normal wear and tear.
Cracks, chips or separation caused by impact, pressure, bending, repeated removal, heat or other external influences are not considered manufacturing defects.
If you believe your phone case has a production defect, please contact us within 30 days of delivery with photographs so that we can investigate it.
A phone case is intended to help protect your device during normal everyday use but cannot guarantee that a phone or other device will remain undamaged in every circumstance.
Bags, Pouches & Laptop Sleeves
Bags, pouches and laptop sleeves are functional textile products and will naturally be subject to friction, weight, movement and contact with other surfaces.
Avoid overfilling or carrying weight beyond what the product is designed for. Keep sharp objects away from printed and textile surfaces.
Friction may gradually affect fabric, seams, printed areas, handles, zippers and corners. Minor surface changes, creasing, fading and signs of use are considered normal wear and tear.
Keep items away from prolonged direct sunlight, excessive heat and moisture wherever possible.
Jewelry
Jewelry should be treated as a delicate object.
Avoid direct contact with perfume, cosmetics, hairspray, cleaning products, chlorine, salt water and other chemicals.
We recommend removing jewelry before showering, swimming, exercising or sleeping.
Gold plating and other surface finishes naturally change over time depending on skin chemistry, frequency of wear, contact with moisture and the way a piece is stored and handled.
Gradual fading or changes to plating resulting from wear are therefore considered part of the natural life of plated jewelry.
Our jewelry carries an additional 3-month commercial warranty against unexpected manufacturing defects under normal use.
Damage caused by dropping, bending, pulling, snagging, moisture, chemicals or other accidental or improper handling is not covered by this additional warranty.
This commercial warranty is additional to, and does not affect, statutory consumer rights. Your existing jewelry page currently states a three-month warranty, so this keeps that promise consistent across the shop.
Scarves, Scrunchies & Textile Accessories
Treat textile accessories gently and always follow any care instructions provided with the individual product.
Avoid contact with sharp jewelry, rough surfaces and objects that may snag delicate fabrics.
Natural creasing, slight changes in texture and gradual signs of wear can occur with use and are not considered manufacturing defects.
For silk and other delicate fabrics, professional or specialist cleaning may be preferable.
Apparel & Swimwear
Always follow the care label supplied with the garment.
Avoid excessive heat and harsh detergents, and wash printed garments carefully to preserve the artwork and fabric.
Swimwear should be rinsed after contact with chlorine or salt water and allowed to dry naturally.
Fading, stretching, pilling and gradual changes resulting from washing, sunlight, chlorine, friction or repeated wear are considered normal wear and tear unless caused by a manufacturing defect.
Art Prints, Posters & Art Cards
Paper artworks should be handled with clean, dry hands and kept away from moisture, direct sunlight and excessive humidity.
We recommend framing prints and posters behind appropriate protective glazing where possible.
Paper may naturally respond to environmental changes. Damage caused by moisture, sunlight, unsuitable framing, adhesives, handling or storage after delivery is not considered a manufacturing defect.
Any printing damage, marks or production defects present upon receipt should be reported within 30 days of delivery.
Velvet Wall Art & Decorative Art Products
Handle printed art surfaces carefully and avoid direct contact with sharp objects, moisture and abrasive cleaning products.
Keep artworks away from prolonged direct sunlight, extreme heat and high humidity.
Do not use household cleaning products directly on printed or textile surfaces.
Damage resulting from impact, incorrect mounting, unsuitable storage, moisture or environmental exposure after delivery is not considered a manufacturing defect.
Hand-Finished & Limited Editions
Hand-finished artworks and limited editions are individually produced pieces.
Small variations in brushwork, texture, finish and handmade details are part of the character of the work and are not defects.
Once received, artworks should be handled and displayed with the same care as other original or collectible art.
Avoid direct sunlight, excessive moisture, large temperature fluctuations and contact with abrasive materials.
Home Décor
Decorative items should be used according to their intended purpose and individual care instructions.
Printed surfaces may gradually show signs of handling, friction, washing or exposure to sunlight.
Where covers or textiles are washable, always follow the care information supplied with the product.
Damage caused by unsuitable cleaning, excessive heat, moisture or improper use is not considered a manufacturing defect.
Pins & Small Accessories
Pins and small accessories contain components that may be damaged by excessive force, bending or repeated pulling.
Attach and remove them carefully and avoid exposure to moisture and chemicals.
Scratching, surface wear and gradual changes in finish caused by use are considered normal wear and tear.
Books & Stationery
Books, cards and stationery are paper products and naturally show signs of handling.
Keep them dry and away from excessive sunlight and humidity.
Bent corners, marks, scratches and other damage arising after use are not considered manufacturing defects.
Printing, binding or production defects present upon delivery should be reported within 30 days.
Future Products
This care and warranty policy also applies to comparable products subsequently added to the Wendy Buiter collection.
Where a product has specific material, care or warranty information on its individual product page, those instructions should be read together with this policy.
Making a Quality Claim
If you believe there is something wrong with your product, please contact us at hello@wendybuiter.com and include:
- your order number;
- clear photographs of the complete item and the affected area;
- a short explanation of the issue and when you first noticed it;
- where relevant, information about how the product has been used or cared for.
We may request additional photographs or information in order to determine whether an issue appears to be a manufacturing defect, accidental damage or normal wear and tear.
Statutory Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Product Care & Warranty policy excludes or limits rights you may have under applicable consumer law.
Commercial warranties and our 30-day quality-reporting procedure are provided in addition to those statutory rights.
